PARS makes a distinction between "Permissions", which the support team manages directly and are related to access, and what the user is permitted to do on the system, and "Roles" which represent what someone's job title or responsibilities officially are but have no reflection on people's permissions in the system. Changes to permissions require Program Sponsor signoff, while Roles can be adjusted by anyone with Edit rights. This means people can quickly make 'data' changes for reporting without risking unauthorized access to the wrong people.

 Permissions typically are things like:

View All - This group represents users who have been granted View rights system-wide. They have view access to ALL PARS projects

NA IP - view access to all NA projects, likewise, there is IP for all other programs such as CRIP- Interested Party for CR etc.
[Project] IP - The Interested Party designation is a read-only role granted to various people who may need Read access to view project data.
[Project] PA -  This group has edit access to project, plus ability to submit program assessments.
[Project] FPD – They have edit access to project, plus ability to submit FPD assessments.
[Project] CA – This permission is granted to Contractor Analysts with a view access, plus ability to upload EVMS data.

Roles don't affect what someone can do, but are what is reflected on PARS reports and in the UI of the system.       Roles are things like FPD, FPM, etc.
